CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State junior forward Jennifer Wieand capped off a record-setting season on Tuesday when she was named to the 2007 All-Horizon League Women's Soccer second team. The award was determined by the head coaches at the nine league schools. "I couldn't be happier for Jenni," CSU head coach Derrek Falor said. "She is the epitome of what a student-athlete is and there is no better example of what will happen if you work hard and sacrifice for your team." A native of Alden, N.Y., Wieand returned to the lineup this year after missing the entire 2006 season following surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee. Wieand has been nothing short of spectacular this season, setting CSU season records for goals (8), points (19) and shots (51). She enters Tuesday night's Horizon League Championship match against Youngstown State ranking third in the league in shots, fourth in goals and fifth in points. Wieand was named the Horizon League Player of the Week on Sept. 10 after scoring three goals and adding two assists in the Viking road wins over IPFW and Delaware State. A starter in all 57 career matches, she ranks second in school history in goals (11), points (28) and shots (87). Wieand is the third Viking to receive the honor all-time, joining teammate Heather Clapacs, who earned second team honors in both 2004 and 2005.
